Skin care is very important to avoid skin cancer, but most sunscreens have been found to damage coral reefs worldwide.
Sunscreens contain chemicals that pollute the seas; approximately 80 percent of the corals in the Caribbean have been lost in the last 50 years due to this pollution.
Choose mineral-based sunscreens that use zinc oxide or titanium dioxide: “non-nano” sized particles that corals cannot ingest.
On some beaches, the use of aerosol sunscreens is prohibited, because in addition to the loose particles in the air, the chemicals adhere to the sand and then to the sea.
Take care of the sun and protect our Planet.
